About the Program
Battleground to Breaking Ground – Mentor Training Program (MTP) is designed specifically for graduates of the BattleGround program to strengthen their mentorship skills. The mission of this program is to increase the number of qualified and dedicated mentors available to our BGBG program participants across Texas and beyond. Mentors work with our beginning farmers & ranchers to enhance their enterprise sustainability through holistic education, training, technical assistance, and outreach.
Upon completion of this 26-week program, mentors will primarily work with BGBG participants enrolled in the BattleGround to Breaking Ground Traditional, Condensed, or Skills Training program, focusing on helping participants gain the skills needed to effectively manage their current & future agriculture operations. Those who successfully complete the Mentor Training Program are eligible for a $1,100 stipend for each regular BattleGround to Breaking Ground participant they work with to complete the participant’s hands-on-learning requirements.
Locations
The majority of this program will be completed online with opportunities to complete some of the required training in-person (CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed) at events in the central Texas area. Mentors will also be expected to attend Basic Training for future cohorts to meet potential mentees which will be in the College Station area.
Program Dates
Cohort start dates will begin in June with 1 Cohort per year. Exact dates will be determined as soon as possible in advance. We recommend following the Battleground to Breaking Ground Facebook page or contact us for the latest info.
