Mentorship Training Program

(MTP)

About the Program

Battleground to Breaking Ground – Mentor Training Program (MTP) is designed specifically for graduates of the BattleGround program to strengthen their mentorship skills. The mission of this program is to increase the number of qualified and dedicated mentors available to our BGBG program participants across Texas and beyond. Mentors work with our beginning farmers & ranchers to enhance their enterprise sustainability through holistic education, training, technical assistance, and outreach.

Upon completion of this 9-week program, mentors will primarily work with BGBG participants who are in Phase 3 of this program, focusing on helping participants gain the skills needed to effectively manage their current & future agriculture operations. Those who successfully complete the program and eligible for a stipend upon completion of the MTP program. Mentors will also be eligible for a $1100 stipend for each Phase 3 participant they work with to complete the participants hands-on-learning requirements.

Locations

The majority of this program will be completed online with opportunities to complete some of the required training in-person (CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed) at events in the central Texas area. Mentors will also be expected to attend Basic Training for future cohorts to meet potential mentees which will be in the College Station area.

Program Dates

Cohort start dates will aligned with Basic Training, so that they are completing the program in time to attend Basic Training held in January and July of each year. Exact dates will be determined as soon as possible in advance, with expected start dates to be in April and August.
