Beef Cattle Workshop
Interested in gaining practical experience and confidence working with cattle? Join us for a hands-on Beef Cattle Learning Workshop designed to help beginning farmers, ranchers, and landowners develop essential livestock management skills.
Throughout the event, participants will engage in demonstrations, guided instruction, and hands-on cattle working activities covering:
Beef Cattle Breeds & Selection
Learn how to identify common beef cattle breeds and understand their characteristics, strengths, and management considerations. Participants will explore breed selection strategies that align with production goals, environmental conditions, and market demands.
Cattle Behavior & Low-Stress Handling
Understand how cattle think, move, and react in different situations. Instructors will demonstrate safe and effective low-stress cattle handling techniques to help reduce injury risk for both animals and handlers while improving herd management efficiency.
Cattle Health Management
Gain practical knowledge of basic herd health practices including mineral nutrition, disease prevention, and recognizing early signs of illness. Participants will learn how proper nutrition and preventative care contribute to a healthy and productive herd.
Herd Health Practices (Hands-On)
Participants will observe and practice common cattle management procedures including vaccinations, deworming, tagging, and general herd health maintenance. This hands-on portion allows attendees to see real-world cattle working techniques in action.
Stocking Rates & Grazing Planning
Learn how to evaluate pasture conditions, determine appropriate stocking rates, and develop grazing strategies that support both livestock productivity and long-term land health
Pasture & Ranch Management
Explore practical pasture management techniques including forage utilization, rotational grazing concepts, and maintaining productive grazing systems that support sustainable cattle operations.
